Board Positions
 
President                
The leader of Woodin PTA and the board. Works closely with board members and school staff to ensure events and programs meet the goals and objectives set forth in our charter. Acts as a liaison between the council and our local unit. Ensures our legal entity remains in good standing at all levels. Runs Board and General Membership Meetings.  
Vice President of Programs
The Vice President (VP) shall assist the President when called upon and shall perform the duties of the President in the absence or inability of that officer to serve. In case of a vacancy in the office of President, the Vice President shall temporarily assume the duties until the vacancy is filled. Overseas all ongoing programs that last most of the school year. 
Vice President of Events Oversees all events. Implements or modifies events as needed according to the needs of the student population.
Secretary Documents all board and general membership meetings. Ensures meeting minutes are accurate and available to the general membership. Creates meeting notices/RSVPs.  Keeps records of important documents. 
Treasurer Handles the finances of Woodin PTA. Process checks, deposits, federal and state registrations and filings. Creates and maintains the budget. Works closely with committee chairs and school staff. Keeps records of important documents. 
Advocacy Chair Keeps the board and general membership informed of local and state legislation taking place in regards to the education system. Attends and organizes Woodin PTA delegates to Legislative Assembly and Focus Day. Advocates at all levels from school and school board to state and national.
Natural Leaders Liaison  serves as a liaison between the PTA Board and the Natural Leaders.
 
Committee Chairs
Art Docent  The Art Docent chair will work with classroom docents to provide training at the beginning of the year, will update resource materials, and will work with volunteers to plan and organize the Art Walks. Classroom art docents implement already designed grade-level art lessons in coordination with the classroom teacher requests. No experience is necessary and all materials are provided. Classroom docents sign up at classroom level. They will coordinate with office staff to keep art supplies stocked and organized. 
Book Fair Organize the book fair which takes place at Woodin Library. Work with the librarian(s) and the school to plan this yearly event. 
Box Tops Organize the Box Tops & Labels for the school.  Educate families on how to submit Tops. 
Families Helping Families
Organizes food & clothing drives based upon the needs of our community and oversee the Families Helping Families Program.
Family Bingo Night Relatively large event. Chair person helps plan and organize this fun and family-oriented social activity in the spring.
Fun Run Coordinate the Fun Run at the start of the school year.
Golden Acorn/Outstanding Educator The Golden Acorn Award honors people who have given exemplary volunteer service to children and youth in our school community. Last Year's winners solicit nominations and organize the Golden Acorn and Outstanding Educator Awards.
Reflections Reflections is a National PTA art program. Each year, students are recognized for bringing the theme to life through dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. Distributes information about theme, accepts entries, recruits judges, and submits entries to district level.
Science Fair The Science Fair chair facilitates science fair entries for all grade levels and organizes Science Fair Night.
Spirit Wear The Spirit Wear Chair promotes and sells Woodin t-shirts, sweatshirts etc. during the school year. Works with vendor on samples, logo etc. for gear.
Staff Appreciation Week The Staff Appreciation Chair plans and organizes one week of activities in May and other activities through out the year to thank Woodin's fabulous teachers and staff.
Vision & Hearing For Vision and Hearing Testing Day, the Chair/co-chair provides volunteers to assist the school nurse with the testing.
Welcome Back Ice Cream Social
Organizes the family Ice Cream Social at the beginning of the school year including: RSVPs, food,  beverages and informational booths.

Works with 5th grade teachers to organize the graduation ceremony/end of year celebration for 5th graders. 

Work with district and school committee to make sure we have emergency supplies stocked and organized.

Develop awareness about the value of membership in community, recruit and keep records of Woodin PTA members. Maintain the membership database which is currently Member Planet.  

Update, maintain, and/or upgrade Woodin PTA website and social media. Compile, edit and send newsletters/email blasts as needed.
